We all love wearing lipsticks but how many of us know how to wear them perfectly. Here are few rules or commandments to follow before applying lipsticks.
- Exfoliate and Moisturise Lips
Always exfoliate lips twice a week to remove any dry skin.
You can use any scrub or can try this DIY (mix brown sugar and honey and scrub it for few minutes and then wash off it luke warm water).
Follow this step with a moisturising lip balm to prevent lips from chapping, and to give your lips a soft and smooth base.
- Coordinate with your Makeup
If you are going for a dramatic eye, keep your lips natural and go for nude or light pink lip.
Pink lipstick can work with almost every eyeshadow, but they are the best to wear if you are using blue or green shadows.
And finally, when it comes to red or dark lipsticks, stick with natural shades like browns and gold, and/or simple black eyeliner.
- Decide the Look
Matte lipsticks looks bold and beautiful. It can be worn any time of the day and night.
Sheer lipsticks give a hint of colour and can be worn pretty much anytime, and they are also great for dry lips because they are moisturizing.
Cream lipsticks provide rich colour much like matte lipstick, but give a little hint of shine, and can be worn both day and night.
- Check your Skin Tone
About checking skin tone I have already discussed here click here to know more about it.
If they appear blue, then you have a cool skin tone.
If they appear green, then you have a warm skin tone.
Shades of lipstick with yellow and orange undertones will suit warm skin tones, while light pinkish reds, blue-toned pinks, and blue-toned reds will suit cooler skin tones.
- Find your Perfect Lip shade
When choosing a natural or light pink lipstick, you should go not more than two shades darker than your natural LIP colour.
Only darker pinks and reds should be chosen based on the undertones of your skin tone.
Light pinks work best with cool skin tones, and darker pinks usually work best with warmer skin tones.
When choosing reds, look for rosy reds if your skin is pale, look for red corals if you’re fair, look for true red if you’re medium, and look for deep colours like wine and burgundy if you’re darker.
- Always use a Lip Liner before applying lipstick
Find a lip liner that best matches your shade of lipstick.
Because lip liners are thinner and more precise, using lip liner helps outline your lips so that you don’t wander out of your natural lip shape.
Be careful not make the outline too harsh or extend it all the way out to the corners of your mouth because it can look a clumsy.
Then go ahead and fill in the rest of your lips with lipstick.
- Don’t forget to Blot the lipstick
This is important because it prevents your lipstick from transferring onto your teeth.
To blot correctly, simply press a piece of tissue or blotting paper onto your lips.
Do not place the paper in between your lips because this will cause uneven wear out.
Another safety measure to take in order to prevent lipstick from sticking to your teeth is to wrap your lips around the tip of your index finger and pull it out of your mouth.
The lipstick that comes off is from the centre of your lips that would have otherwise ended up on your front teeth.
These were few rules to follow when applying lipsticks on your lips. Hope you like them.
