7 Money Saving Natural Beauty Gadgets Cleaners

Hi all from Alex from United Kingdom,

Did you put your rouge and eyeshadow this morning, brush and straighten your hair? Of course you did, you are a woman after all. But did you stop even for once second and think about when was the last time you cleaned your brushes or your hair straighteners? Did you know that your beauty gadgets accumulate a dangerous amount of bacteria and germs over time and if uncleaned, those can cause acne and a number of other inconveniences.

Scientists and make-up artists advise us to clean our beauty products regularly. And it is not only our brushes and tweezers we need to keep clean, but also our hair straighteners and hairbrushes, and even our bath poufs – basically we need to clean every beauty gadget we use. According to make-up artists, not keeping our beauty gadgets clean is not just unhygienic, but it will also render our beauty products inefficient and even shorten their lifespan, too. And, as we learned from specialists, cleaning your beauty products and tools is not expensive at all. Turns out all we need is water, baby shampoo, white vinegar and teatree oil – and you can buy all that for less than £15.

A make-up artist working in a high-class beauty studio in the capital told us how to keep our brushes and blending sponge clean. According to her, our brushes can pick up bacteria and grime as soon as we put them onto our faces, and, you will be surprised, but these bacteria can live up to one year on your brush if uncleaned. The expert told us to clean our brushes and beauty blending sponge once a week. In order to clean our blending sponge, we need to wet it thoroughly with warm water and shampoo it with a baby shampoo – then rinse several times and let air dry. We can clean our brushes by soaking them in a mixture of hot water and teatree oil for 50 minutes.

We also need to keep our hair products in a spic and span condition. Your hairbrush collects dander, hairs and dead cells, and you spread those on your hair every time you use your hairbrush. To clean your hairbrush, soak it in a mixture of warm water and baby shampoo after you’ve removed all hairs from it.

Did you know that not cleaning your curlers and hair straighteners will make them ineffective? In order to clean your hair straighteners and curling machines – wait for them to cool completely after use and clean them gently with a damp cloth. Never soak them in water and never wrap the cable around the styler – this will shorten the lifespan of the tools.

You must also clean your metal tools like tweezers, eyelash curlers, cuticle nippers, etc., and it is really easy and cheap to clean them, too – just soak them in warm water and antibacterial soap, or, if you want to use entirely natural products, soak them in 1:1 white distilled vinegar and water solution.

What about your bath products like razors and bath poufs? Yes, they, too, need a regular cleaning because if you don’t clean your razors, hairs will build up between the razors and will make the tool virtually inefficient. And bath poufs house not only residues from your shower gels, but also the dead cells from your body and if uncleaned, these can become the reason for serious skin irritations. Clean your razor with hot tapped water and make sure to dry it completely afterwards, as tapped water can make the blade rusty. To clean your bath pouf – soak it in warm water and white vinegar solution once a week.

You love your new facial cleaning device, right? Well, you should keep in mind that if you do not keep the brush head in a sanitary condition, dirt and bacteria could build up and cause skin irritation, problems with complexion, etc. To clean it, remove the brush head and thoroughly clean the item with antibacterial soap. Use a toothbrush for the areas difficult to reach. Depending on how often you use your tool, you should clean it from once a week to once every 90 days.

With today’s fashion trends to keep eyebrows big and bushy, we use the eyebrow spooliers more often than ever before. To keep the eyebrow spoolies in a perfect condition, clean them with alcohol once every two-three weeks. Most of them are made of synthetic fibers so you do not have to worry about drying the gadget afterwards. This will keep the tool in a good enough condition for you to be able to “tame” your eyebrows whenever you use it.

All in all, it is important to keep your beauty gadgets in a good condition as not doing it will not only hamper the efficiency of the products you use, but prove harmful, too.
