6 Easy Winter Hair Care Tips

November 29, 2019

Winter has already set in! While it is time to thank the stars for putting an end to all the sun damage that your hair was being put through, it is also time to start planning a hair care routine that is fit for winter. Check out 6 Easy Winter Hair Care Tips.

Your hair starts to find it harder to retain moisture, making it brittle and prone to breaking and damage, not to mention the frizz and static that often comes with your winter wardrobe. However, these are all problems that can be avoided with ease as long as you have the right hair care routine for winter.

6 Easy Winter Hair Care Tips

1. Fight the Flakes

Your scalp is drier and itchier than ever during the winter months because of the lack of moisture in the air. This leads to issues like dandruff and aggravated scalp irritation, which can lead to hair fall.

2. Control Frizz

One of the most annoying things about winter is all of the static. The hoodies, sweater, scarves, gloves, and beanies all seem to gang up on your hair, making it a static, frizzy mess. Apply a leave-in conditioner to keep your hair smooth.

3 Never go outside with damp hair to bypass breakage

Itā€™s critical to dry hair thoroughly before dashing into the cold

Drying your hair out completely can be a pain, especially if you have long hair. never put your hair up while it is still damp. Damn hair and scalps attract a lot of problems like dandruff, breakage, and split ends.

You must also never rub your hair dry with a towel as the friction will cause damage. The best way to dry your hair would be to gently squeeze the excess moisture out with a towel and then use a blow dryer on the cool setting. If you are using hot air to speed things up, ensure that you are holding the dryer at least 15 centimetres away from your hair.

4 Hydrate hair overnight with an oil

our hair needs all the moisture it can get during winter, and this makes conditioning a vital part of your hair care routine. Using hair oils and deep conditioning packs at least once a week becomes vital for maintaining the health of your hair. It is important that you end every wash with a conditioner.

5 Commit to weekly treatments to keep hair hydrated

Dry air also means all hair textures should focus on weekly hair treatments to replace lost moisture. ā€œHair dries out in winter from not having enough moisture in the indoor air, which is when a good conditioner comes in handy

Once a week, you should baby your hair: Slather conditioner on and take 30 minutes for the moisture to penetrate into the hair shaft.

6 Use dry shampoo for volume if your hair has gone limp

Those with oily hair might find their hair goes extraordinarily limp, particularly when it comes to the dreaded ā€œhat head,ā€ which can ruin your style and, you know, your whole day.  Dry shampoos are great for this: they keep the hair fuller and more robust, and expand the hair shaft.

Make these tips a part of your hair care routine and your hair wonā€™t even notice that winter is here. A little extra care can go a long way when it comes to ensuring hair health. Try out 6 Easy Winter Hair Care Tips and share your experience in the comments section below.

Very good tips for hair care this winter. My hair needs all the hydration it needs in temperature extremes because it gets frizzy during those times. I hate having to deal with split ends too. I will heed your advice and hopefully I make it through this winter with my hair healthy and shiny.

I really can appreciate #5 because I am not one who hydrates my hair enough and it has suffered because of it. My hair should be a lot longer, but due to my laziness it hasn’t grown as much.

My hair definitely gets frizzy in the winter with all the static. I definitely need to use a good conditioner to keep my hair looking smooth.

  • Reply adrianeryann November 30, 2019 at 8:34 pm

I had no idea all that damage could occur while your hair is damp. And just because I would appreciate it if someone told me, you do have a typo – it says “damn” hair, but I think you meant damp šŸ™‚ šŸ™‚ šŸ™‚ I don’t ever go outside with it damp but definitely put it up that way. I wasn’t sure when to put the oil in so I like the idea of doing it at night. These tips are great especially because I have really long hair!
